Why did we make past maps available for download?

  • Preserve history: Thousands of hours of effort have been invested in to building these maps. They are an important piece of history that should remain accessible.
  • Nostalgia: Many players have described EarthMC and its maps as part of their childhood. Everyone should have the opportunity to revisit these memorable places.
  • Increased server trust: Providing a reliable archive of old maps should foster trust among players who dedicate their time and effort to the current map.

How to download and install the Minecraft earth map for Java

  1. Download the map by clicking one of the links in the table above.

  2. Extract the downloaded archive using a program that supports zstd-compressed archives, such as the latest version of 7-Zip.

  3. Navigate to your Minecraft Java saves directory:

  • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves\
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves/
  • Linux: ~/.minecraft/saves/
  1. Place the extracted folder (e.g., nova/) into the saves directory.

  2. Launch Minecraft: Java Edition. Select the map from the single-player world list. Play.

How to download the Minecraft earth map for Bedrock

Minecraft Bedrock (formerly known as pe) can also play the above maps by first converting them to a bedrock compatible format. This allows you to play on iOS, Android and Windows as long as you have enough disk space. Here's a detailed guide to download and play Minecraft earth maps on Bedrock.

  1. Download the map by clicking one of the links in the table above.

  2. Extract the downloaded archive using a program that supports zstd-compressed archives, such as the latest version of 7-Zip.

  3. Download chunker, a tool to convert java worlds to bedrock. Make sure to download a version compatible with your operating system. If you are on Windows, download the .exe for example.

  4. Open Chunker. Click Choose world folder and select the extracted archive from step #2.

  5. Select the latest version of Bedrock and click the green convert & download button. The conversion process will start.

  6. Click save and chose a save location.

  7. Navigate to your Minecraft Bedrock saves directory and transfer the world:

  • Windows: Press Windows key+R at the same time. Paste: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds and click enter. Move the exported Bedrock world to the minecraftWorldls directory.
  • iOS: Connect your Apple device to your computer. Move the exported world to from your computer to your Apple device. Use the Files app and move the world On My iPhone > Minecraft > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds.
  • Android: Connect your Android device to your computer. Move the exported world from your computer to your Android device. On your device, use your file explorer of choice to move the world to Internal Storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds.
  1. Launch Minecraft Bedrock. Go to Play and check the list of worlds. The downloaded Minecraft earth map should appear and be playable on Bedrock.
