Hello everyone, Greed here. I have been working on a few features, along with ways to bring 1.20 related content to EarthMC. Below I detail what has arrived, along with some future plans.

Camels

Arguably the most important addition, camels are now present in the Gobi, Arabian, and Saharan Deserts! It will be a bit before they can sprint and lunge with no issues, but regardless they are here to stay.

mcMMO

There are mainly new item additions, along with some new abilities! These changes are spread out in a variety of skills.

Alchemy Every time a brewing stand completes a brew, there is a chance that it will drop dragon’s breath as a byproduct. The higher a player’s Alchemy skill is, the higher the chance this happens:

  • 0% for levels below 50
  • 0.25% at level 50
  • 0.5% at level 150
  • 1% at level 250
  • 2% at level 500+

Excavation Archaeology changes:

  • Pottery sherds have been added as obtainable drops after level 500. They have a 0.005 drop chance (10 times more than name tags). All 20 types are possible to find in a multitude of blocks you would usually mine with a shovel. As a good rule of thumb. some of the blocks may not be in the overworld dimension alone.
  • Sniffer egg has been added a drop after level 500, also with a 0.005 drop chance.

Fishing Treasure Hunter changes:

  • Removed blaze rods from RARE category
  • Added 32 prismarine shards to RARE category
  • Added 32 prismarine crystals to RARE category
  • Added crossbow to RARE category
  • Added Relic music disc to MYTHIC category

Herbalism

  • Pink petals have been added as a Hylian Luck drop for cherry leaves when broken with a sword.

Salvage There’s new salvage abilities involving 2 blocks!

Cauldron

  • Triggered by SHIFT+right-clicking a water-filled cauldron.
  • Requires Salvage skill is at least 50.
  • Cleans colored terracotta or wool based on the Salvage skill level:
    • Salvage 50-149: 30%-50% of items returned
    • Salvage 150-249: 60%-80% of items returned.
    • Salvage 250+: 80%-90% of items returned.
  • Decreases the cauldron’s water level by 1 after cleaning.

Fletching Table

  • Triggered by SHIFT+right-clicking a fletching table.
  • Requires Salvage skill is at least 50.
  • Allows salvaging wool into string (1:1 ratio) based on the Salvage skill level:
    • Salvage 50-149: 30%-50% string returned.
    • Salvage 150-249: 60%-80% string returned.
    • Salvage 250+: 80%-90% string returned.

Towny

There are new changes to town dynamics.

Town bank gold drop Towns that fall into ruins will now drop the former bank gold. For the 15 minutes after the announcement, a circular particle and fireworks will periodically go off at the former spawn location, until the gold finally drops.

Town claim limit It has also been decided to remove the 940 chunk limit for towns. This limit was mainly around to prevent towns from snowballing in size, however with the introduction of overclaim earlier this year, that is now a risk for towns to take in over-expanding.

However, even if a town has limit to claim, there are certain conditions it must meet. Once a town is past 1000 claims, it will require another player online (who is not running the claim command) who meets the following conditions:

  • Resident of the town for at least 14 days
  • Has Councillor rank

The more tiers a town surpasses, the more of these types of players are needed online in order to claim additional chunks:

  • For 1000-1249 chunks: One 14 day old Councillor online
  • For 1250-1499 chunks: Three 14 day old Councillors online
  • For 1500+ chunks: Five 14 day old Councillors online

Flags

Flags are back. They are now possible to make again, along with a vertical variant!

  • Right click a fence or block to place to place a banner vertically.
  • Shift+Right click a fence or block to place a banner horizontally.
  • Repeat with multiple of the same banner to increase size (maximum 9).
  • Left click destroy to receive all banners back.

Badges

Badges were reintroduced recently as mainly purchasable cosmetics. The first set of badges for gameplay achievements are now being rolled out.

9 unique badges that are possible to earn now:

  • Top 10 Player in mcMMO Power Level
  • Top 10 Player in mcMMO Alchemy skill
  • Top 10 Player in mcMMO Excavation skill
  • Top 10 Player in mcMMO Fishing skill
  • Top 10 Player in mcMMO Mining skill
  • Mayor of the largest town by resident size
  • Mayor of the largest town by claim size
  • King of the largest nation by resident size
  • King of the largest nation by claim size

The appearance of earn-able badges are subject to change. This will expand in the near future to include other gameplay feats.

Minecart Speed [BETA]

Players will now be able to change their minecart speed while riding. By using the switch item to offhand key (F by default), there are 3 speed modes to choose from:

  • 0.4D (Default)
  • 0.8D (8 m/s)
  • 1.2D (30 m/s, ice boat speed!)

A game limitation is that minecarts derail and are unable to go up y-levels after 0.4D (default), otherwise decreasing speed right before turns or elevations should allow for a smooth transition.

Premium

The command /premium now shows how much time you have Premium left for.

EarthMC Archive

The old Terra Nova and Classic discord channels are now available for viewing! All that’s needed is the Player role, which can be obtained by running /discord link in-game and messaging the Terra Aurora bot on the Discord the code.

What new changes are planned?

Overclaim There are two main changes that should be forecasted to arrive at 2024-12-04:

  • Item retrieval system for overclaimed chunks: Whenever a town gets overclaimed, items in any containers in the targeted chunk will be removed and reserved virtually in the town for the mayor to /t overclaimcollect. This will mitigate the usage of /t takeoverclaim for taking items, and reaffirm its primary purpose as land acquisition.
  • The ability to found a town /t newoverclaim at the border of an existing overclaimable town: The command will not work if the target chunk is fully surrounded by chunks that a town owns. It will also not work in a chunk designated as the homeblock, even if it is on the edge of a town. Once a town is created, it will be bound by the same mechanics as a normal town (30 days old until able to run /t takeoverclaim for additional chunks). This will allow for land occupied by overclaimable towns in crowded areas to be accessed without compromising claim integrity.

Outpost limitations There have been many issues regarding towns claiming chunks away from their main section, therefore new limitations for disconnected chunks will arrive at 2024-12-04. It will no longer be possible to do the following:

  • claim chunks from a mass of your town that is not connected to the home block.
  • set your home block to any mass of your town that is not already connected to the home block.

Be sure that your town's homeblock is set inside the main area of your claims, and not any disconnected outpost chunks.
